Cleveland, Ohio. The Legacy School announced the appointment of its inaugural Board of Trustees Executive Committee to serve as the schools governing body leadership.
New board members Dr. Chuandria Smith (Chair), Amira Logan (Vice Chair), Sharonda Mason (Secretary) and Lorretta Pitman-Scott (Treasurer) have deep connections to Cleveland, Ohio and decades of experience in Education as school leaders, educators and local professionals.
Dr. Smith, the Board Chair has worked as a school leader for many years. Chaundria is a student-centered and visionary educator whose educational career focuses on improving the quality of education for our most vulnerable populations. Her experience in the field of education spans all Pre-K to 12th-grade levels. Under Chaundria’s leadership, John Hay Early College was named among the top high schools in the U.S. by U.S. News and World Report. The school was also given the distinction of being one of the top 25 high schools in Ohio. Dr. Smith currently is Senior Director of Leadership Development at Building Excellent Schools.
Mrs. Pitman-Scott veteran educator with over 25 years of STEM classroom experience. She has served on many boards and brings insight and a wealth of information to the board. As an accomplished middle school educator Mrs. Pitman-Scott offers the board a unique perspective that will aide in student, teacher development and recruitment in addition to being a parent.
“Logan and Mason will bring great perspective to the board,” said School Founder Shawn Crosby. “The Legacy School is a school for Cleveland, made by Cleveland and these ladies having background as business owners are the experts.” Mrs. Logan is a proud parent of two and is a career school safety professional with decades of experience, and she is local business owner. Ms. Logan is passionately about making a difference in Cleveland and better positioning its children for the future. Similarly, Ms. Mason is passionate about Cleveland. She is a career social worker with experience in the legal field. Ms. Mason is a mother of a future high schooler and is an advocate for creating empowering spaces for children.
